This past February I had the opportunity to attend the Clickaway Conference, the fourth (of four!) I have attended, because I could never ever miss it! There is really nothing like it. A bunch of people who get together from all walks of life and eat, sleep and breathe photography for a whole weekend? Yes, please.
This year the photographer’s conference was held on a resort on Amelia Island, Florida, and while February is risky for north Florida, we lucked out with amazing weather the entire weekend (although watching huge clouds of fog descend on the entire resort in minutes was super eery!)
The day before the conference I met up with some amazing girls for a creative shoot. We pulled out all the modifiers, played with macro and free-lensing, learned a little about wildlife photography, and used specialty lenses. I will tell you that it is more fun than you can imagine to play with a crystal ball!
During the conference I assisted my brilliant friend Shalonda of ChubbyCheek Photography, during her family photography sessions on the beach. Such AMAZING families, and so.much.fun.
I also attended a couple of other classes. First was with my friends Courtney and Casey talking about Day In the Life sessions.
On the last day, I watched my friend Chloe work absolute MAGIC with a ridiculously gorgeous couple in a hotel room (and even the bathtub!!!)
Sad as I was to see this tremendous weekend come to a close, a couple of friends and I extended our trip a little and went to Savannah, Georgia for some good old fashioned sightseeing (well and a Ghost Tour!). I love the opportunity to shoot non-human subjects every once in a while. It makes me so keenly aware of the beauty that surrounds us every single day.
I can’t wait to find out where the next conference will be held! I hope you join me!
