This session (actually 2 days of sessions!) was absolutely magical. It feels like I have been waiting for years to photograph this darling Michigan senior, and at the same time I’m sitting here in disbelief that she is already a senior! I’ve been friends with this family since before Miss L was born; I can still remember the day her mom told me she was expecting her. I got to see her grow into such a beautiful young lady, from a baby to a toddler to a sweet, happy adolescent, and even after I moved to Texas I got to come back each Summer and marvel that those kids I saw growing up at church didn’t just get frozen in time and stay the same age as when I left them, but they kept getting older, more mature, more amazing every year!

We spent our first day together simply walking around the DIA (Detroit Institute of Arts), where her mom works and her sister graduated, and I was shocked at how many pictures we could get just in that one spot (it helps that we had this gorgeous subject and some pretty darn fantastic light)! We could have just finished up our session in the one day, but we had our eyes on a second spot so we continued the fun a second day. And as I live in Texas, which happened to feel like an oven for the last two months of Summer, it was a special treat for me to spend Summer days outdoors and enjoy all the green and the abundance of flowers without melting to death. And again we had perfect light (and the same gorgeous subject who is a total natural in front of a camera!) so it was definitely worth it to make this a two-day affair.

Senior photos are such a right of passage and a special moments for both the young adults and their parents, and I love going out with seniors and learning about their likes and their hobbies and friends and all their plans and hopes for the future.
