A few years ago, I met this beautiful Plano family for a session at the Dallas Arboretum, when the oldest brother was a young toddler and Mom was still expecting her daughter – you can check it out here! Fast forward five years and #3 is turning one! And just like with the other two kids, they had the house decorated and some awesome cakes and cupcakes waiting to be devoured for the first time, and happy kids ready for a party. And I’m not kidding when I say happy kids – I was greeted by two older siblings eager to show me all their toys and every room in the house, all their acrobatic skills, and everything they got for every Christmas and birthday. Yes, this photoshoot was primarily about their young brother, but I won’t lie – the photo-bombing added to the charm of the day.

Not to say that the star of the day didn’t hold his own because he was just all kinds of adorable and he was totally into the cake and the balloons, which any photographer doing a “cake smash” photo session wants to happen, and he was, as many third-born children are, a go-with-the-flow kind of fellow, just happily munching on his cupcake while his extroverted siblings jumped and flew and did cartwheels all around him. I just loved everything about my time documenting his big milestone birthday party – how he enjoyed his first taste of birthday cake, how his parents and grandparents loved on him, how his siblings kept everyone so entertained, how wonderfully everything was decorated…how happy everyone was. You can just tell that’s a house that is just overflowing with love and affection, a house this little man is blessed to be growing up in. So let it be the first of many happy, happy birthdays!
