Windy Day Family Photos

{Flower Mound Family Photography | Dallas Family Photographer}

I was so happy when the day of this session arrived, as cold weather caused a delay and a reschedule for our original session. Of course, wouldn’t you know that on the day of our session it was extremely WINDY, as most of our Texas Spring was (this is the most wind I’ve experienced since moving to Texas eight years ago)! I love that this family was totally unfazed by the wind, and were totally into the session and into each other as I always love to see. As is often the case, their precious little lady took a few minutes to warm up, but once she felt comfortable, she was a ham for the camera and full of smiles and sweetness, and I went home later with a pocket full of tiny little flowers she’d picked for me.

I gotta tell you, though, that’s gotta be the windiest family session I’ve ever photographed, especially when we got out of the trees and in the open air by the lake! While not all women (myself included) would probably love the idea of our hair blowing all over the place for family pictures, this momma looked fabulous no matter what her hair was doing. You could feel the love and affection they all had with each other, which, of course, is always my absolute favorite part of photographing family sessions. Getting the privilege to capture the connection among humans is why I do what I do. And I will admit, I love the challenge of winning over the little ones! Seeing their smiles and hugs and silliness and carefree exploration is such a wonderful thing to put into pictures, pictures that will become treasured heirlooms for years to come. As a mom of teenagers and 20-somethings, I sometimes miss the hugs and cuddles of my toddlers, but I am glad to have the images in my albums that can bring me back to that fleeting and precious time. This is what I love to provide for others, and I would love to capture your family’s memories as well!
