A Beautiful Home Birth

{Southeast Michigan Dearborn Michigan Melvindale Michigan Birth Photography Birth Photographer}

I was so, so excited and honored to be witness to the miracle that unfolded in the wee hours of the night last week.  I met my friend S at her home as she was laboring quietly in the company of her husband, mother, closest friends and midwife, music playing softly, lights dimmed.  Her oldest child was busy picking out the baby’s first outfit and helping however she could; she was so thrilled to be the happy helper. Her husband was such a wonderful support for S, holding her hand and her belly and never leaving her side. Grandma was taking care of the children and making soup and tea, and S was in her zone, never making a sound, just riding the waves of contractions until it was time to push.  And quickly, smoothly, the baby emerged and her husband introduced S to her beautiful sixth child – a son.  I watched as the family met him and held him.  As baby nursed for the first time.  As he felt the comforting water of his herbal bath with Mom.

It was such a beautiful thing to be witnessing such an incredible event, the miracle of birth, from a slightly different vantage point from the previous 5 births for which I was present. 🙂  I owe my tremendous appreciation to S and her family for letting me in to capture all the magical moments.

    Sally – – I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful work you did at my grandson's birth. I made the following comment on my own page regarding your work that I would like to share with "your" public: "thank you for freezing and capturing this moment's life, its emotion, its energy, its hopes… I'll tell you again, your work is unique and special – far better than most I've seen. Somehow the third dimension's identity is not lost in the translation to film for your work."

  5. How sweet! So very precious! Congratulations everyone!
