A Wisconsin Tradition

Every Summer I travel to Wisconsin to visit my family, and while I’m there it’s a tradition to have a “Mommy and Me” session with a fellow photographer and her children and I ADORE them. We began when it was just two children and now there are five, the last being the most precious twin toddlers. It is always, always a total riot photographing this family, and I have to say, I have to give major props to this mama for her ability to remain so supremely chill when I see multiple death-defying stunts being pulled in every direction, whether it be someone standing or climbing on a precarious perch somewhere, or a two-year-old attempting a steep incline in his brother’s shoes. The princess of the crew has absolutely no problem holding her own in a houseful of boys; in fact, I’m pretty sure she’s the ruler. But no matter how rowdy, daring or rambunctious they get, there is no shortage of love and affection among these guys, and I’m all here for it. I love how they cuddle their mom, even the older ones. I hope they keep on doing it until they’re old and gray and I’ll keep on showing up to photograph it.

Here’s last year at the beach!
