I had to reach FAR back into my archives to pull out a lot of these images (that’s what I get for neglecting this blog for way too long), but it was worth the effort because, every year, I team up with Danah Zoulek Photography on her seriously awesome property to hold a photographer shoot-out. Every year, we meet up with a bunch of crazy-talented photographers from Illinois and Wisconsin, and we bring our kids, props and wardrobe from all our personal stashes, and adorable models of all ages and sizes. Expecting women, children, tweens, you name it. It’s always sort of a circus, what with all the stuff we pile together to choose from, but I love it because it means that we are never hurting for variety. Not to mention, there are always lots of cats, chickens, horses, and dogs around, plus goats that follow you around (and might just try to eat your shirt). There are so many little spots and crevices to shoot in, and depending on the weather and the month we are there (which is always different), every year has produced imagery that would make it seem like we shot in a hundred different places, and never looks like that of the year before.
If you have attended one of our shoot-outs, I’ve loved meeting you and collaborating with you. If you haven’t yet traveled to Richfield (near Milwaukee) to join us, make it your goal to come in 2018, and I guarantee fun, and energy, and a slew of amazing images to take home with you.
Here are some highlights from the last three years:
